Hi all

This came to me from a classic bike site I frequent

*PLEASE HELP THIS LITTLE BOY SMILE!!!

Hi everyone : I was just hoping I could get your help with something. I have found out that a friends 4 year old son, Charlie, is suffering from a terminal brain tumour, and has only a few months to live. The family’s top priority is to make Charlie’s last days as memorable as possible. One of the things Charlie absolutely loves is receiving post, and he always rushes out to collect the post each morning. As such, his parents have started a postcard campaign, and are asking as many people as possible to send a postcard to Charlie, with just a simple, cheerful message on it. (Please do not mention his illness or include get well wishes.) If you are able to do this, it would really make a difference for Charlie and would be a great help and support for his parents during this difficult time.

Any postcards should be sent to

Charlie Codling
C/O Manor Farmhouse,
Little Beside,
St Day,
Redruth,
Cornwall.
TR16 5PX

Thank you very much. I’m really hoping this request will mean there are a few more postcards arriving at Charlie’s door x

Please REPOST ON YOUR OWN FB or TWITTER SO WE GET AS MANY POSTCARDS SENT AS POSSIBLE MANY THANKS

Hi all,
just wondering whether the following would be of interest to region 17 members.this is a free course held at Ashford fire Station and there are gizzits involved too.

Often bikers ride in groups or pairs and it is usually the case that when one is involved in an accident the first person on the scene will often be a fellow biker.
Many clubs and groups discuss the need for the training of riders in how to deal with a crashed biker. Injured motorcyclists need to be dealt with in a specific manner by a First Aider due to the mechanics of the type of injuries possibly suffered and the issues surrounding helmet removal.
‘First Aid for Bikers Course. ‘Biker Down’ includes three modules:

_*Incident scene management:*_
A presentation from a Fire Bike Team member, on scene management and personal safety for a biker happening upon an RTC involving a motorcyclist.

_*Casualty care:*_
This module is delivered by qualified Life Support Instructors, from KFRS with Motorcycle First Aid specific, expertise, covering; Trauma and mechanism of injury, snatch rescues, why when and how, basic life support, CPR, managing spinal injuries and crash helmet removal, when and how.

_*Group riding techniques:*_
To end the session the attendees receive instruction and advice on either the crucial aspects of group riding and conspicuity. This is delivered by Kevin Williams of Survival Skills Motorcycle Training, who is an Advanced Instructor and widely experienced in this form of riding.
Our aim is to offer this course to all bikers. We feel this will prove to be a highly valued service within our minority group of road users, who make up the highest casualty rates.

Along with the impressionn of marvelous Meri Snow Mountain, we left Deqin City in Yunnan Province, heading to our first stop in Tibet: Mangkang county, begining our mountain tour of "Deqin to Mangkang" by way of Yunnan- Tibet high way.
Mangkang County is located in the easternmost part of Changdu Region of Tibet, is the intersection of highway of Sichuan, Yunnan and Tibet province, 214,318 National Road is also merged here. The landscape along the way is magnificant with mountain groups. The mountains here is a bit different from the mountains we saw before. Mountains here always show their bare earth color in front of people. Riding through the mountains, you can feel the grandness. This time, we have the real feeling of "Scenery from the top" . Magnificant and beautiful!

I went down to my garage last night to get my bike all loaded up for our local rally, the River Dart, Devon Rally and as I entered the garage I could smell petrol.
On further investigation I discovered the seam on my fuel tank where the mounting bracket is at the rear of the tank and under the front end of the seat had a small split in it.
I took the tank off, drained all the petrol out cleaned up the tiny little split and welded it, using very little heat with my arc welder by just spotting it and letting it cool before repeating the process.
I thought I had done a good job and cured the problem but after filling the tank back up with petrol it still leaked.
Re-drained fuel again and this time cleaned up along the entire seam with small grinder and welded the entire seam only to discover it still pissed out.
The time was nearly 11 o'clock at night and too late to fuck about any more, so new tank needed before going to Bute.

We will have to drive down to the River Dart rally now instead of taking the MT.

I put a message on the MT forum this morning that I wanted a fuel tank and I have just had a reply back from "Bunker" an MT Riders Club member, who has offered me a petrol tank "FREE" nothing wrong with it but he has changed his to a plastic one, what a top bloke!

A few beers for that man at the next Dragon rally.
